From land to line, fully automated at Vergeldt Vegetables in Tienray.
For over 35 years Vergeldt Vegetables has been growing iceberg lettuce and leeks with care and dedication. What began as a hobby that got out of hand grew into a modern cultivation company with over 230 hectares of production land around Tienray. To take the processing of these vegetables to the next level as well, the family business chose a fully automated crate unfolding line from Reintjes Systems.
Always fresh, always ahead
With this investment, Vergeldt is optimizing its intralogistics food processing process. Iceberg lettuce and leeks are now processed even faster and fresher, with no loss of quality. The line integrates seamlessly with the harvesting process and virtually eliminates manual labor from the processing stream. In doing so, the company is taking a big step toward a sustainable chain that is good for people, planet and profitability.
One line, fully aligned
The custom solution consists of a series of smart modules, tailored to Vergeldt’s product and workflow. For example, the line starts with a universal depalletizer, which automatically integrates pallets of various types. A crate rotation module ensures that crates and boxes are correctly positioned for the next step.
With the crate de-stacker and unfolderer, stacks of folding crates are processed fully automatically. Thanks to the automatic ejection module, defective crates are immediately removed from the line. Next, the usable crates are stacked to the correct numbers via a stacker and passed through. Also added is a rotation module that ensures uniform direction of rotation during transport.
At the end of the line, a universal palletizer, pallet destacker and pallet turning module ensure that everything is ready for the next link in the process. Through various pallet roller conveyors, both empty and filled pallets up to 1,000 kilograms are moved automatically.
