The North Limburg company MultiGrow Grashoek B.V. recently commissioned a complete automation solution from Reintjes Systems.
The international food processor, which grows some 17 million cucumbers on an annual basis and recently also strawberries under the name MultiFresa, is thus taking a big step toward the creation of a sustainable food processing chain.
A complete food processing line for MultiGrow Grashoek & MultiFresa
”We aim for a cucumber to be in the store within 24 hours of harvest,” said MultiGrow director Thom van Mullekom.
As a result, the company already invested in 3 automated packaging lines. However, until recently, these packaging lines were still operated completely manually.
For owner Thom, a reason to look for automation solutions that could make the food processing process even more sustainable.
In Reintjes Systems, he found a new automation partner in 2021, with whom he started a new automation project in early 2022.
With two universal depalletizers, a crate de-stacker, crate folding machine, pneumatic crate de-stacker, two hook converters and several smart intralogistics transport systems, Reintjes Systems developed a new innovative total solution, with which the renowned cucumber grower (and recently also strawberry grower) can operate its 3 packaging lines fully automatically. With the integration of this total solution, MultiGrow can process its fruit and vegetables even faster, fresher and with higher quality. The company is thus taking a big step towards the creation of a sustainable food processing chain.
The solutions developed also contribute to an ergonomic working environment.
Thanks to the available universal depalletizers, MultiGrow can quickly and easily integrate its pallets with folding crates collapsed via a pump truck or forklift into the food processing line. The manual, time-consuming and labor-intensive unloading of pallets with high heavy stacks is thus a thing of the past.
